UPHILL. October 26th 2016
A typical Autumn afternoon, sitting on the beach with the campervan side door open to the elements, watching the world go by. Camper is as warm as toast and I have a bacon butty and a cup of tea in hand...
DEVIZES. October 5th/6th
This caravan and camping club 'adults only' site is positioned beside the Kennet and Avon Canal. Having received various cost discounts, this site turned out to be the cheapest visited to date...which caused us to approach with caution! Added to this, Alan had a week off work, but with various commitments outstanding we could only manage to book one night away...and with my birthday being on 6th there was an element of 'high hopes' involved. As we approached the site we felt a little as Sherlock Holmes might have felt at the start of a pending venture!
We needn't have worried, for the location was beautiful and the site itself attractively laid out, friendly and welcoming. There were early evening Herons and visiting bunnies for breakfast!

UPHILL & SAND BAY. October 3rd
Today we first visited a picnic area, where we'd expected to have a view of Chew Valley Lakes...but this instead offered us nothing, unless we cared to walk around the perimeter of a reservoir. Whatever...we didn't even park up!
So instead we headed to the beach at Uphill. With the tide seen far distant the beach seemed to spread for miles, with a shining mirage of sun upon wet sand. Being a Monday there were few people around...so we parked and enjoyed lunch followed by walks along the sand.

Later in the afternoon we decided to visit Sand Bay. I'd not been there for many years, but little had changed. We drove to the far end, to Sand Point, where we enjoyed walking towards the sea, before returning to the grassy car park for an ice cream.
A lovely day, both peaceful and relaxing.
