So instead we headed to the beach at Uphill. With the tide seen far distant the beach seemed to spread for miles, with a shining mirage of sun upon wet sand. Being a Monday there were few people around...so we parked and enjoyed lunch followed by walks along the sand.
Later in the afternoon we decided to visit Sand Bay. I'd not been there for many years, but little had changed. We drove to the far end, to Sand Point, where we enjoyed walking towards the sea, before returning to the grassy car park for an ice cream.
A lovely day, both peaceful and relaxing.
