Site ratings

Sites we've visited and our 'ratings' based upon the sites value, for our own purposes.  Further details of our experience when staying at each site can be found on the main blog page:

Wye ValleyForest and Wye Valley
We wanted a quiet woodland and countryside venue.  This site suited us and we couldn't fault it.  The location is best suited to out-of-season, warm sunny weather.
Likelihood that we will visit this site again: 9
* Re-visited this site ...still rate 9

Okehampton: We were wanting to stay in a moorland area this time:  Bundu
This site was on the edge of Dartmoor and it's being fairly close to Exmouth, so we managed to visit both this seaside town and Exmore too.  The site was quiet, with very few amenities aside from electric hook up, showers etc.  There was a cycle track running alongside the site (and cycle hire available).  If we visit again we'll take out bikes.  Best to visit out of season, and in dry weather.  Early September perhaps, as the moorland heather would then still be in bloom.
Likelihood that we will visit this particular site again: 2

Devizes: This site was lovely, very much like the first site we'd visited in the Wye Valley, only this one was larger.  Positioned beside the Kennet and Avon canal so it offered walks with interest, and plenty of wildlife. Best suited to dry weather.  As it's for adults only it should be ok in the summer months when kids run wild elsewhere.  Devizes had more charity shops than any place yet visited!
The likelihood of us visiting this site again: 8

Dorset: This site at Wyke Regis looked great on the web site...but the campsite was in fact basic.  That said, the views were lovely and having sheep greeting you through the van door in the mornings was pretty good!  Likelihood of us visiting this site again: 0

Hampshire. Lee Valley. Dobbs Weir.   This site was ok, with abundant canal and river walks and water life. There were too many kids around the park itself though.
Likelihood of us visiting this site again: 2

Wales.  LLandow Caravan Park .  This site is split into two areas, one for families and t'other for those seeking peace and quiet.  Incidentally, they also have good provisions (showers etc) for those with disabilities.  Unfortunately, although the site was clean and 'a good one' it is situated quite a distance from anything we wanted to do.  So, for this reason, the likelihood of us visiting again: 1

Porlock.  Porlock Caravan Park.   This site was very clean and tidy with good provisions (showers, laundry, microwave oven etc).  For us, the plots were placed too close together, so although it was quiet there wasn't much privacy or space.  Likelihood of us visiting this site again:  1

Dartmouth. Camp site  This site was clean and tidy, though a little over-full to our taste.  It was, however, situated close to beaches and towns...so in a convenient location.  Likelihood of us visiting this site again: 2
